What is Art?
To me, art is an expression of creativity. it is the application of an idea to share with people. Art is subjective, it can be vague and difficult to summarize or put into a box. Art is also a reflection of the artist's personality, and a physical adaptation of their feelings. The artist applies their idea using color, shape and light through a medium.
Art is essential to human life and society. It means something different to everybody, and it makes everyone feel something. It can be communicated without words and across language barriers and cultural differences. Art is unifying and dividing at the same time. Regardless of your opinion or viewpoint, art communicates something and that's the point. Art also documents history, which is vital to educate the next generation. Learning about the time and context in which the art was created, helps illuminate the atmosphere and circumstances of that time. Art is a way to use imagination and creativity to express emotions and beauty. Ultimately art is a gift.
